2023-03-27FILA Korea to hold tennis festival “2023 WHITE OPEN SEOUL”
- Among the Korean capital’s high-rises and ancient palaces, a tennis court pop-up will celebrate 50 years of FILA tennis wear with the “2023 WHITE OPEN SEOUL” festival from April 7-8
FILA Korea announced that it will hold a unique tennis festival, “2023 WHITE OPEN SEOUL,” in the Korean capital’s iconic Gwanghwamun Square for two days from April 7-8. As this year marks 50 years since the launch of FILA tennis wear in 1973, FILA also recently held a commemorative event at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.
April’s festival in Seoul aims to create a special occasion for tennis fans and those who love the sport’s unique sense of style. The name “WHITE OPEN” was inspired by FILA’s “White Line” born in the 1970s, when the brand’s partnership with tennis great Bjorn Borg accompanied him on his way to five consecutive Wimbledon titles. From that era to today, FILA fashion icons have remained representative of tennis court style.
The 2023 WHITE OPEN SEOUL will offer a variety of programs, including lessons from Korean tennis legend Lee Hyung-taik and current player Song Ah, as well as a “tennis pilates” experience led by fitness influencer Lee Eun-hyung (@hopisophie). To have a chance to hone their skills and earn FILA product discounts, tennis enthusiasts can pre-book “White Arena” tickets (by April 2) for 159,000 won via FILA Korea’s official online store. The “White Package” also consists of “Speed Serve T9” shoes, as worn by star player Kwon Soon-woo, a “Tennis Life” T-shirt, and other tennis accessories.
There will be free access for “White Garden” visitors, who will be able to enjoy picnic and photo zones, jazz music, and tennis activities. Tennis clubs from around the country will also compete on the court in Gwanghwamun in a “White Club Match,” while the fun will continue after dark with “White Night.”
In addition, visitors who buy the “Essential Package,” comprising a T-shirt and cap for 49,000 won, will enter a draw to win a pair of Guam Tennis Travel Tickets supported by the Guam Visitors Bureau. More details can be found at FILA Korea’s official online store (www.fila.co.kr) and Instagram (@fila_Korea).
“We prepared this event to share FILA’s tennis spirit with more people in a special way for the full-fledged tennis season,” said an official from FILA Korea. The official added, “As it is an unusual event held in Gwanghwamun Square in the center of Seoul, we hope it will be a time to make special memories with precious people.”
